Here are a couple pics from two great kiteboarding spots in Northern California. 3rd Av, and Waddel Creek.
First, 3rd avenue. Great place to learn; steady wind and relatively flat water.

Here are a couple pics from Waddell Creek. This beach is on the pacific ocean side - plenty of wind, and great waves. Typically 6 feet, sometimes 10-12 foot waves depending on season. The beach is wide enough to self launch, but be mindful of the kids!!
